Four observing nights at Glockner and ITT

September 2014, Tuesday 23. to Sunday 28.

At Glockner-site

The weather prospect was good for the night Tuesday/Wednesday, and so I decided to take
the Glockner High Alpine road on my way to the ITT star party. Thereby I spent an observing
night on the Edelweiss-Spitze, a highly esteemed site among amateurs - so no wonder I met
some expert observers there, among them Uwe Glahn, Matthias Juchert and Joerg Peters.

Here we also saw some spectacular details in the "Egg nebula" with 900x >/p>

Joerg at his 25-inch: Observing the beautiful edge-on NGC 891, ...

... and looking to the Northwest

The night was very dry, with good seeing and transparency, while the snow seemed to add to some
higher amount of horizontal brightening as usual. But fst was easily mag 7 near the zenith.

At ITT star party on the Emberger Alm (alt. close to 1800 m)

While the first night was cloudy, allowing for some more sleep, all three nights between
Thursday and Sunday offered observing possibilities, the best night beeing Thursday to
Friday.
It was the 30.th ITT, and already the 19.th at the "Emberger Alm" site.
