A clear night at "Yellowstone" (Risstal valley)

Nacht Freitag/Samstag, 28./29.März 2014:

A clear Alpine night in the Risstal valley with good transparency, but only medium seeing.
With Ralph and his 20", and two friends from our club.

Helmut: Comeback in Alpine observing

It was Helmut's first mountain observing night for many years, he had introduced me into
Alpine observing in the mid 80s with his 17" - a huge aperture back then, with a Coulter mirror.

21:53 CET: View to North, from left Ralph and Helmut

Ralph observes M104, at left Helmut

Now he enjoyed an ample buffet of classical spring galaxies, among them a very fine M51 spiral.
And we took a closer look at the Abell 2151 and Abell 2065 galaxy clusters, the former invoking
old memories in Helmut. But we did not get too special, since it was intended as a showpiece night
without consulting any star maps.

3:11 CET: Ben observes the Herkules galaxy cluster (Abell 2151)

3:18 CET: Michael observes M57

3:43 MEZ: Michael below the Swan

8:31 CET: Morning after
