A mostly clear night at "Winterstube"

Comeback of Ralph's 20-inch after a renewal of the mirror

A short look back at 1995:

Winterstube: The night December 27/28, 2013

A mostly clear, but wet night at "Winterstube" in the Bavarian Alps. Ralph reactivated his 20" after a renewal of the mirror, thereby astigmatism and spherical
aberration problems were corrected - the telescope had been inactive for about 6 years. We also showed some highlights to two different hiking groups
who came along the road.

M42 is always worth a look

It was not always entirely dark

M33 was not difficult to discern with the naked-eye, using averted vision. We saw interesting details in NGC 2261 ("Hubble's Variable Nebula"),
the Rosette Nebula and the Horsehead (B33), and also observed autumn galaxy clusters like the NGC 383 or NGC 1275 groups. Later it got
a bit cloudier, and increasingly wet, with a tendency to fogged eyepieces; so around 2:00 we went into our sleeping bags.
