Three evenings on Taubenberg with Ralph in 2011 / 2012
Between June 2011 and March 2012. On Taubenberg, an alt. 900 m hill in the Alpine uplands.

A French couple on a hiking trip around the Alps

The eclipse attracted about 40 other people to Taubenberg as well. The majority of them had never looked through a telescope before, and was also
quite impressed by Saturn in Alfons' 8". Among them a young French couple who coincidentally camped there on their 5-month's hike around the Alps -
they had no idea about the eclipse before, and were pleasantly surprised by the sudden astronomical impressions.
The total eclipse lasted for a long 1h40m, and we saw most this phase in darkening dusk. Around 22:45 CEST clouds were winning over and it
started to rain, so we missed the fourth contact. But it was well worth this trip during the week !

Observing from 20:30 to 23:00, with the supernova in M101 still before maximum, and comet Garradd in Sagitta.

An observation on Friday, March 23, 2012
From 20:20 to 23:50, Ralph took along two telescopes, his 6- and 8-inch. And we heard an intensive, hours-long concerto of the Tawny Owls,
coming from all directions: Both the hooting „Huh-Huhuhu-Huuuh“ of the males and the short
"Kuwitt" of the females.
