Two clear nights at the Vogelsberg star party (ITV) in 2011

From Thursday, June 2, 2011, to Saturday, June 4, 2011.

Two nights of dry and clear skies, not really dark both because of light pollution and the northerly position in June. Both nights I observed till the onset
of dawn around 3:00 CEST. It was agreeably warm, and I enjoyed coming across people I only meet here. About 470 participants up to Saturday morning,
among them several daily visitors, and I was well occupied with showing highlights in my 16". That's routine in my club, but here it's still more fun because
of a far better sky compared to our locaton in eastern Munich. Friedhelm left after the first night, but next evening he informed me about a newly discovered
supernova in M51. Juergen and I set out for a look, in our big Dobsons, and easily saw the 14,2 mag object. But without knowing the exact position, and
without an image of M51 at hand, we were initially not sure whether that was in fact the supernova.
