An observing night at the Almberg star party (alt. 1141 m)

Night Saturday / Sunday, September 11/12, 2010

A trip with Manfred and Rainer to this nice location in the Bavarian Forest, meeting some other Munich club members there. This remote site
near the Czech border is not crowded, and we enjoyed a clear night (limiting mag V = 6.8 near the zenith) with diverse instruments up to 20".
Here four of Julian Braun's images:

Two organizers: Andreas (Almberg) and Uli (BTM)

Two hikes: Upper Moldau and Lusen

With Manfred and Rainer. The hike to nearby Lusen (alt. 1373m) offered curious views: In the "Bavarian Forest National Park" it
had been the official policy not to fight the bark beetle. So we walked through vast areas of dead spruce forest, with new vegetation
growing up in between (e.g mountain ash).
